Our response to an article in the EDP

The article in the Norwich Evening News and EDP describing Poringland Village Hall as derelict and dilapidated are very negative and misleading in relation to the service provided by Time Child Care.

Our staff are highly qualified, skilled and dedicated to providing a safe, healthy and stimulating development environment for Early Years preschool education and after school care for primary school age children.

We are and will continue to pursue fund raising for remedial improvements to the existing building and for new improved facilities to enable us to extend our offer Monday to Friday.

Fundraising for our garden

With the arrival of Spring and hopefully a bit of warm weather on its way, it has turned our attention to making our outside space a bit nicer for the children by adding some new seating, story telling chairs and storage benches to keep the chairs in.

To raise the money we are having a name the bear competition and a just giving fund raising page

This is open to all of our existing Preschool parents who can find all of the details on the Tapestry system.

Welcome back to Autumn Term.

We would like to welcome all of our families back to Time Childcare.

A full newsletter will be posted on here very soon, but we just wanted to let you know that we have set up a new system to enable us to message all parents together. It is called Tapestry and you should have received an email from them over the last couple of weeks to activate your account.

If you haven't done so already, please activate your account as this is the only way you will be able to view our messages and updates.

If you can't find the email, please contact us at admin@timechildcare.org.uk and we will get another one generated.

To view messages you do need to log into your account. We are hoping they will update this soon so it sends you a notification. However, in the mean time we will be putting a message on the board outside to let you know you have a message to read.

If you are unable to view the message sent on Saturday where we sent you our new Parent Handbook with our Covid secure measures, this can be viewed on the website under 'For Parents/Carers'.

New Pre-school opening times

We just wanted to let you know that we are altering the start and finish times of Pre-school.

The morning session at Pre-school will now start at 8.30am and end at 11.30am and the afternoon session will start at 11.30am and end at 2.30pm.

We have made this decision due to the additional time now required between the end of Pre-school and start of our afterschool club so we can get all of the equipment thoroughly cleaned each day before its put away.

We hope this change doesn't cause any inconvenience.

Dear Parents/Carers

We hope you are all well.

As you may be aware Friday 8th May is a bank holiday. It was moved from the 4th may to enable people to spend time together and share in the VE Day celebrations over that weekend.

What is VE Day?

On the 8 May 1945 VE (Victory in Europe) Day was one that remained in the memory of all those who witnessed it. It meant an end to nearly six years of a war that had cost the lives of millions, destroyed homes, families, and cities and had brought huge suffering to many countries.

If you are looking for a challenge this week we have sent an email to all Pre-school parents attaching some 'make your own' bunting and some VE day posters to colour. (If your child is not currently at our Pre-school, you can find your own bunting and VE day pictures online). We would love to see your designs when they are done. Are you also having a party to celebrate?

If we get enough emailed back we can make a display of them on our Facebook page and this Blog. (If you send us a picture please can you ensure your childs face is not in the photo or send us 2, one with them in and one without.

We look forward to seeing how you do!

Pre-school opening update...

On 21st April we will be re-opening Pre-school for the children of Keyworkers

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope everyone is well and have found fun ways to enjoy the Easter Holidays with their children!

After a consultation with our Trustees, we are happy to say that we will re-open Pre-school next week for our eligible children. This will be with Karen and Tasha in our usual setting at the Village Hall. We are currently not opening for XtraTime as we have not had any children who need us. If you do find you need to send your child to either session and you are eligible to do so, please send an email to admin and we will do our best to help

For all of our other children, we look to welcoming you back as soon as we receive confirmation from the Government that we are allowed to open again.

Until that time, here are a few things you might like to try at home if you are running out of ideas - Share a book, make your own story or book, go for a walk to look at flowers in the gardens, bake a cake, follow a recipe, write a letter or draw a picture to send to a friend, have a water fight in the garden, facetime a friend or relative.

If you would like to help us raise some much needed funds while you are all at home, we have accounts with both 'Give as you live' and 'Easy Fundraising'. We would really appreciate it if you could register with them, and then every time you use that site to help you shop, it will raise a little bit of funds for Timechildcare.

Please let your children know that we miss you all lots and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Letter to parents 3rd April 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

We hope you are all well and managing to keep the children entertained!

Time Childcare has now officially closed as the Easter Holidays are here. We will remain closed until the Government advise us that the children can return to school. However, if you do find you need childcare after the Easter Holidays please email admin@timechildcare.org.uk. We may be able to bring staff back in ourselves, or if not we will help you to find a setting that is open and can look after your children instead.

I have also found this on the Norfolk County Council website and it includes the Easter Holidays too - If’ your child’s school is closed completely and you are a key worker please call us on 0344 800 8020.

If you need to contact us for any reason, Lynne will still be working on the admin. So you can send an email to admin@timechildcare.org.uk as normal and she will get back to you as soon as possible.

We hope you find lots of ways to have fun over the Easter Holidays and we'll be in contact with you again soon.

Temporary Closure

Dear Parents/Carers

We hope you are all well and keeping safe at this time.

Although we have endeavored to keep Time Childcare open for our Keyworker's children and vulnerable children, unfortunately the take up at our setting does not warrant our staying open. Therefore we have decided to close Time Childcare with effect from Thursday 2nd April, the first day of the Easter Holidays, until there is instruction from the UK government that the crisis is over and we can return to normal term time and holiday club opening times.

For our families this will effect, the local Council's are currently planning where to create a number of central 'child care hubs' and we will keep you updated on this as soon as we receive more information.

We will be sending out an email to you each week with any updates and information we have received, and hopefully it won't be long before we are advising you on the date we will be able to return to normal.

Please let your children know that we are missing them lots and look forward to seeing them all again soon!

Lynne and the Trustee team: Stella, Hazel and Tim, will still be working even when the setting is closed, so you are welcome to carry on emailing us at admin@timechildcare.org.uk.

Covid-19 Advice for families

Dear Parents/Carers

As you will be aware, the Government has announced that the UK has moved to the

'delay' stage of the COVID-19 planning. The advice issued by HM Government is

being update regularly and currently includes:

1. Schools to remain open.

2. People with fever or persistent cough told to self-isolate the entire

household for 14 days. Guidelines are available on-line.

Public Health England (PHE) has released new guidance for those staying at home

with confirmed or suspected cases of coronavirus. The advice states:

1. Not to go to work, school, or public areas, use public transport or taxis -

or even for a walk.

2. Those with even mild symptoms of infection should stay at least two meters

away from other people in their homes and should sleep alone.

3. Those with confirmed or suspected cases should use a separate

bathroom.

The NHS updated advice states:

1. The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of: a)

new continuous dry cough and/or b) high temperature.

2. For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild infection.

3. If you have symptoms of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), however mild, stay

at home and do not leave your house for 7 days from when your symptoms started.

This action will help protect others in your community whilst you are

infectious. Your child may still attend if they are showing no symptoms,

however you must not bring them in to the setting yourself.

As a Pre-school we have our contingency in place. A closure would occur if:

1. We were directed to close by HM Government

2. We were directed to close by Public Health England

3. We had a significant staff shortage due to numbers

self-isolating

If your child has a temperature above 37.8

degrees you must keep them at home, please do not bring them in because you

have given them paracetamol to bring the temperature down. If your child gets a

temperature while in our care, we will call you to collect and take them home.

We are teaching the children about good hygiene routines and how to wash their

hands thoroughly. To continue this at home:

3. Ensure children in your care wash their hands regularly and thoroughly and assist as required.

4. Maintain exceptional hygiene throughout the day, cleaning surfaces and equipment, changing cot

sheets, assisting with laundry, disposing of tissues, etc.

5. Use tissues when coughing and sneezing and dispose of safely.

6. Catch it, Kill it, Bin it!

We know that many of you are worried about the present situation, but the

Government’s advice is that we should continue business as usual as much as is

possible. Your child’s safety is very important to us and we will be following

the Government’s guidelines, which are sent through to us on a daily basis to

Advice for those who have travelled recently

Yesterday, the Chief Medical Advisor for England, Chris Whitty updated advice for travellers returning to the UK from specific areas affected by COVID-19, which you can find at:

Please share this guidance with your staff and cascade as appropriate.

If you have returned from the following specific areas since 19th February, you should call NHS 111 and stay indoors and avoid contact with other people even if you do not have symptoms:

· Special care zones in South Korea (see link to maps below)

· Hubei province (returned in the past 14 days – see link to maps below)

Time Child Care needs your help. As we continue to grow, we are outgrowing our current location.

We need new premises to rent, with a garden space, that can accommodate 50 children at anyone time, in the Poringland area. It needs to be easily adaptable to meet Ofsted provider requirements, with easily accessible and safe vehicle access. Ideally the outdoor space would enable us to continue to meet our Forest School ethos.

We are run as a not for profit incorporated charity (CIO) which relies on volunteer committee members as trustees who whilst experience rich are equally time poor.

Can you help us with all or any of the following?

· Premises to rent or land with services and utilities connected?

· Free advice and support to help us in our search

· Volunteer(s) to join the board of trustees?

Get a free book at this local Library event

Most local libraries are holding this event for Pre-school children over the next couple of weeks. They will be reading a story, singing some songs and doing some colouring. And best of all, you get to take a copy of the book home with you!
The idea is to help all children experience the joy and wonder of bedtime stories.
Poringland Library are holding their session on 4th June 10.30am to 11.30am. If that's not your local library though, just search for yours and all the information will be there.

Someone who has free time in the afternoon's....?

We are currently advertising for a Play Worker at our afterschool club with the main role of driving the car to collect the children from some local schools in the area. The hours are from 2.15pm to 6.15pm but are flexible. The most important part is recruiting somebody between the hours of 2.30pm and 4.30pm to drive our Vauxhall Zafira to collect the children from their schools. It would be ideal for somebody who is prehaps retired or only wants to work a couple of hours a day and enjoys interacting with children. As they may not be looking at our website themselves, we would really appreciate it if you could pass the information on to anybody you think would enjoy the role. They must have a clean driving licence and will have a DBS Check done before they start.

The children leaving us to start school or at new settings had all already posed in the graduation robes and mortar board for special photos for their graduation cards.
Today they could pop them on again and be presented with their graduation certificates in our ceremony in front of all the families at our celebration today!
Some we more keen than others and some were practising ready for next year! Thank you again to all those that attended!
