Time Childcare Mission Statement
Time Childcare is a charitable community-based childcare organisation (CIO) dedicated to supporting children’s growth in a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment.
We aim to foster strong, positive relationships with both children and parents, built on mutual respect, trust, and confidence. By creating meaningful partnerships, we ensure a happy, secure, and successful experience for everyone in our community.
We take great pride in our welcoming outdoor space, where children are encouraged to explore, take appropriate risks, and embrace new challenges through play — all within a safe and supervised setting. Our outdoor provision is inspired by a Forest School approach, promoting curiosity, resilience, and a connection with nature.
Our experienced and qualified Time Team delivers a rich, play-based learning environment tailored to each child’s individual needs. We support children’s development holistically, nurturing their confidence, self-esteem, and knowledge. By providing freedom to explore within a caring and secure atmosphere, we lay strong foundations that prepare children for the next stages of their education.
Our vision is for every child to enjoy and achieve during their time with us — growing into confident, capable young people who make positive choices and flourish in all they do.
Our Offer
Preschool - After-school club - Holiday Club
We provide nurturing Early Years education for children from age 2 (from 9 months old starting January 2026) through to the start of Reception. We also offer high-quality after-school and holiday childcare to support families throughout their child’s primary school years.
Our setting is led by a Manager and Deputy Manager who are both qualified Early Years Teachers (EYTS) and Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs).
Together, they lead a friendly and experienced team dedicated to delivering exceptional care and learning experiences tailored to each child’s individual needs.
Our after-school and holiday clubs are run by experienced graduates and offer children a safe, relaxed space to unwind, explore, and have fun. With a balance of engaging activities and free play, children can build friendships, develop new skills, and enjoy their time with us.
We are passionate about putting children and families at the heart of everything we do. Our team regularly undertakes professional development to ensure our practice remains current, reflective, and of the highest quality.
In Preschool, children are carefully supported and assessed to ensure they are progressing well and reaching key developmental milestones, helping them feel confident and ready for their transition into Reception.
We would be delighted to welcome you for a visit so you can see our setting in action. Please get in touch via the ‘Contact Us’ page or email us to arrange a time.

Our History ...
Poringland Playgroup was established in the 1960’s. It was a small Playgroup run by parents in a home.
In 1974, it moved to Poringland Village Hall and then registered with Ofsted in 1990 and the Charity Commission.
In January 2009, the heating failed at the Village Hall, and the committee and staff felt that the group would need to permanently close. A group of parents, with support from Norfolk County Council Early Years Team and The Village Hall Trustees, managed to re-open the Playgroup in March 2009. There were 12 children on the books. The Playgroup grew over the years adding XtraTime After-school Club (opened in September 2010) and then Timeout holiday club (in August 2011).
In 2015, we re-registered as Time Childcare - a Not for Profit Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
Poringland Playgroup then became Playtime Preschool.
Time Childcare now has over 150 children on the books and employs 12 staff.
Time Childcare Charitable Incorporated Organisation (reg. no. 1161477)
As part of being a charitable organisation, Time Childcare is required to have a volunteer trustee team that oversees the running of the organisation. As a charity, we CANNOT run unless we have a full Trustee leadership team.
If you would like to be part of the Trustee leadership team and take a part in ensuring this childcare setting can continue to provide its services to the community, please get in contact with the Trustees for more information.
If you are unable to commit to a Trustee role but would still like to help, we have the ‘Friends’ of Time Childcare that focus on fundraising, please still contact the Trustees as we always need help and support in this area.
Safeguarding and Child Protection
All active members of Time Childcare: Staff, Trustees, Volunteers and Students have enhanced DBS checks (The Disclosure and Barring Service). This helps to make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children.
We intend to create an environment in which children are safe from abuse and in which any suspicion of abuse is promptly and appropriately responded to. We aim to comply with local and national child protection procedures and ensure that all staff are appropriately trained.
Everyone working with children has a ‘duty of care’ to keep children safe and protect them from harm. This means that if Time Childcare staff are concerned a child may be at risk of harm or is being abused, Time Childcare staff are required to refer this concern to Children’s Services or the Police. There is the expectation that Time Childcare staff will always discuss these issues with parents/carers before making a referral unless Time Childcare Staff feel that a child may be at further significant risk, in which case they will make an immediate referral.
What our Children, parents, carers and staff have to say........
“I started at Poringland Playgroup as a committee treasurer in 2007, there were 40 children on the books. If you had said to me then that I would have had a complete carer change from being a retail manager to childcare setting manager, achieved a degree and that we would have over 250 children on the books, I never would have believed it! I love and feel privileged to do the job I do!.”

Poringland Village Hall
Time Childcare is based in Poringland Village Hall.
The Hall is situated on the main road (B1332), The Street, directly opposite Tesco Local. We are adjacent to a small side road that leads to Poringland Primary and Nursery School.
We are seeking to acquire new land and premises to broaden our offering.
We have many ambitious plans in this regard and would welcome contact from local landowners who would be able to help make our dreams and those of our children come true.
